2020 Long Track Season

Thank you to all of the volunteers who have worked so hard to get the Susan Auch Oval ready for skating. Our first outdoor practice of 2020 is Monday, January 6th at 6:00. We will meet at the Cindy Klassen Rec Centre. When you enter from the front doors, head to the back (north) of the building passing on the right of the registration desk. We will meet in club room #3 located on the north side of the building. On most evenings we will be sharing our dressing room with other clubs so this is a great chance to meet some of the other skaters and parents.

Remember that it is cold out so dress in layers. Skaters get very warm while skating and need to be able to remove layers as needed. Ski goggles are recommended. A thin toque or mask that you can wear under your helmet are helpful as well. Make sure your socks are dry. You might want to bring extra socks and powder to help keep your feet dry. Wet feet are cold feet. If it is too cold to be outdoors skating (or raining lol), we still have a practice, usually dryland indoors (which is a great opportunity to work on technical things). Please bring running shoes to each practice to be used for warm up and dryland.

There are a few days left to sign up for the Silver Skates meet. The link has been emailed out. All of our skaters are strongly encouraged to give this meet a try.
