Announcement WCSSC & WSSC Join Together

Yes, the rumors are true, the Winnipeg Central Speed Skating Club and the Winnipeg Speed Skating Club will now become one giant force in Winnipeg!

With the support of Speed Skating Manitoba, our two organizations will become one over the next few months; sharing coaches and ice at River Heights and Sargent Park.

Things will look pretty much the same as last year except for the name update to WINNIPEG SPEED SKATING CLUB.

The Winnipeg Speed Skating Club was established in 1919 and is Manitoba’s oldest speed skating organization.

The Winnipeg Central Speed Skating Club is an amalgamation of the River Heights Speed Skating Club (formed in 1965) and the St James Speed Skating Club (formed in 1935).

The River Heights programs and ice times will remain the same (see schedules page for 2024/25 programs)

There will be some changes to the programs at Sargent Park and we will be updating the website shortly.

The WCSSC & WSSC boards will be working together going forward to ensure a smooth transition for all our skaters.

Ice Reg will be up and running for the season mid-August – watch your email for details on when to register.

We look forward to seeing you all this fall!
