SPORT: Short Track Speed Skating (no long track)
Eligibility
U14 – Minimum age is 10 years as of midnight June 30, 2025. Maximum age is 13 years as of midnight June 30, 2025.
U18 – Minimum age is 14 years as of midnight June 30, 2025. Maximum age is 17 years as of midnight March 1st, 2026. (Participants must be under the age of 18 to compete)
Athletes must be a registered member of a recognized speed skating club in Manitoba.

*Fill Spots – Regional teams must comprise at least 50% regional athletes, in which case if any region is unable to fill its quota, remaining positions will be made available to the next ranking skaters from the selection event, who are not yet qualified.
Qualifier
Athletes must compete at the Speed Skating Manitoba Provincial Championships, November 2025. Athletes will represent their respective region and be ranked upon their cumulative points over the Open Championships.
*Bye Selection – In exceptional circumstances, as the SSM determines, where an athlete has not had the opportunity, through no fault of his or her own, to compete in the nominated selection event, the athlete may be eligible to apply for a Bye selection to the Manitoba Games Team for their region. A Bye request is considered as the last means by which an athlete may gain selection and is intended to provide for exceptional circumstances. Bye selection will be determined at the sole discretion of the SSM High Performance Committee

- U14 Male and Female: 2000m Super Final (top eight only, based on cumulative points). All U14 events will be raced on the 100m track.
- U18 Male and Female: 3000m Super Final (top eight only, based on cumulative points). All U18 events will be raced on the 111.12m track.
*All competitors must compete in all events.

1st – 1000 points 4th – 543 points 7th – 295 points 10th – 160 points
2nd – 816 points 5th – 443 points 8th – 241 points 11th – 130 points
3rd – 666 points 6th – 362 points 9th – 196 points 12th – 106 points
Competition Rules
Each race is subject to the Rules & Regulations as governed by Speed Skating Canada.
Equipment
All equipment is subject to Speed Skating Canada standards. Athletes will be provided with a helmet cover to identify their regional team.
Coaches & Managers
Each region must name a Head Coach and Team Manager. Head Coaches & Team Managers will be appointed by each region, in conjunction with SSM, with at least one of each gender. Exclusively Head Coaches will be allowed in the Coaches Box.
Registration Deadline
The Provincial Sport Organization states that all teams must be chosen by December 15th, 2025.
