This is a great program for beginner skaters (we welcome all types of skaters!) – we play a lot of games to get the children moving and excited about skating!

Skaters are welcome to join our regular program after they complete the 7-week session.  Our regular Fast Strides 2 Recreational program runs from October to March, and skaters can join anytime throughout the season.

Skaters use their own regular skates (such as hockey skates) for this program.

Skaters must wear a helmet, eye protection (cage OR safety glasses ( we sell these for kids)), cut-proof mitts ( no mini mitts), and a neck guard. (knee pads are optional and highly recommended)

The Winnipeg Speed Skating Club follows Speed Skating Canada’s new First Strides (Learn to Skate) and Fast Strides (Learn to Speed Skate) programs. This program has 10 levels, and we provide report cards in December and February for all our skaters so they can see their progress throughout the season and set goals based on the skills outlined in the report cards.
